You do not need to buy special bonsai tools as a beginner - household scissors and a pair of pliers are good enough. If your interest in bonsai continues, however, you may want to obtain tools specially manufactured for bonsai use. The most useful are the concave cutter, knob cutter, wire cutter and long-handled trimming shears. Below are some typical bonsai tools.
